The team sent out a detailed quote, and scheduled service quickly. Service went really well, a tree removal and trimming another tree to extend its life. Tom MacMorran24 days agoFor a great job at a reasonable cost that combines a high level of professional knowledge and expertise, along with superb customer service, Happy Tree Service of Austin has my highest recommendation I was very pleased with my whole experience with Happy Tree Service, From their prompt response to my initial inquiry on their web site and Evan's subsequent visit to develop an estimate for the job. Evan is knowledgeable and was forthcoming with recommendations to achieve our desired results with the best outcome for the trees without attempting to oversell unnecessary services. His estimate was reasonable for the work needed. When I had questions about scheduling and eventual payment details while awaiting a date for the job, Bailey from the office responded to my emails promptly, professionally and courteously. Happy Tree Service requires payment immediately on completion of the work, which is reasonable, but the crew cannot accept payment. There is a 3% processing fee for credit card payments, a practice I disagree with. In my initial contacts with Bailey at the office we agreed that I could pay with an e-check mailed from my bank and she said they would waive the late fee, if that should happen. The day before the job was scheduled I received an email requiring a 50% deposit, which came as a surprise since it was not mentioned in the original proposal, and the only payment options offered were to allow them access to my checking account, which I never do or pay by credit card. Not wanting to delay the job, I charged the deposit, which upset planned management of my credit balance during the current billing cycle. I called the office and explained the situation and Bailey promptly refunded the payment and confirmed our original payment arrangement. I immediately set Happy Tree Service up as a payee in my bank's online banking, submitted an e-check for the deposit and called Bailey to let her know that the deposit was on its way. The crew appeared on the scheduled date, consulted with us to ensure we agreed on the appropriate limbs targeted for removal, worked efficiently, took all the necessary measures to protect the health of the trees and cleaned up all debris before leaving. Christie Black30 days agoI am very happy with the service I received from Happy Tree Service. I called the office, and Bailey returned my call promptly and set an appointment up for the arborist to come out to get an estimate. The arborist had an estimate quickly and was honest about a damaged tree that could not be cut back because of disease. The deposit was very easy to use from the email with the proposal. Once the proposal was approved and the deposit was given, an appointment was set up for the crew to come out. The crew did a great job and cleaned everything up nicely. When I had a question about the job, Bailey was quick to get an answer back to me. I would recommend Happy Tree Service. I feel they were reasonably priced and did honest work.Posted on Google

They did an excellent job in thinning out where was needed while maintaining the beautiful canopy of our mature trees. It was a true tree service as opposed to guys just attacking with a chainsaw. Eric Liu54 days agoWe recently had Happy Tree Service prune our 2 front and a single rear oak based on neighbor recommendations. All our trees were seriously over-grown but the crew made FAST work and did a great job cleaning up afterwards (painted cuts & collected trimmings/leaves). Joel & Evan came to do the quote beforehand and took the time to explain the process they'd take before scheduling the work (which took about 2+ weeks after the quote). I had 4 estimates donw with different companies around Austin and they offered the quote with the best value, by far. They were always communicative and took care of the back and forth with Travis County to get the tree removal permits, making it a seamless experience. Leslie Windham61 days agoHappy Trees has done my tree work for many years. They have removed dead trees, trimmed healthy trees, and have treated a few of my most treasured trees for Oak Wilt. Oak Wilt is rampant in my neighborhood with many neighbors not making the effort to contain the disease. I love my trees and want to keep them as healthy as possible. I highly recommend Happy Trees. I called and they made me an appointment with one of their arborists to make the estimate. The arborist was knowledgeable and provided helpful advice on proper tree care. Once the estimate was accepted, they got me on the schedule a few days later. The team came out and was done within 30 minutes. They cleaned up the branches and my trees look awesome. Jason Reichenberg72 days agoMy neighbors had used them in the past, so when I had a tree that was looking a bit sick, I called them and asked for an arborist to come out. They had someone out quickly, and confirmed the tree was dying and had to go. They sent someone out in the next few weeks to safely and quickly cut it down, then grinded down the stump. You can't even tell there was a tree there! Great service. Very friendly staff. I've now used them for tree trimming as well.Posted on Google

They removed the limb off my house in a safe, professional manner without damaging my roof. Based on this, I asked them to come out and give me an estimate for my other trees. A certified arborist came out to meet with me and a plan was developed and two limbs were marked for removal as well. When the crew came they knew exactly what to do. I spoke with multiple office receptionists and they were all extremely helpful and friendly. The technician who came to do my air spading was the MVP of the whole experience. Alexis Perkins115 days agoWe had a great experience with Happy Tree Service of Austin. After a storm, one of the three trunks of our red oak snapped and was leaning on another tree, creating an emergency situation because the broken section was hanging over a walkway. Happy Tree Service came out quickly, assessed the situation, and explained all of our options very thoroughly. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain how the tree’s root system worked, how the remaining trunks were balancing, and what could be done. They walked us through options ranging from removing and treating the damaged section to full removal, and they gave us their professional recommendation while still leaving the final decision up to us, which we really appreciated. After they wrote up the quote and we approved it, they came back the very next day to complete the work. They handled everything in a timely manner and did an excellent job cleaning up afterward. There had been a lot of storm debris and broken branches scattered along our driveway and yard, and they cleaned up even the small branches under the tree. This was our second or third time working with Happy Tree Service, and we’ve been happy with their work every time. Evan was fast, efficient and when he left, the only way you would have known he was here is because the trees look much better- everything was left clean. he left no evidence that he was ever here. Evan, the owner, the day before a freeze, helped saw down an at risk branch, when he was only out doing the estimate. Incredible customer service. As an owner, I really appreciated that the arborist was willing to discuss my questions from the initial quote and send pictures of his recommendations from when he walked the property as I was not onsite when he visited. He was very respectful of any of my needs and seem to be very knowledgeable about the trees themselves he also tidied up after himself leaving it beautiful! Beth163 days agoI have used Happy Tree Service of Austin a couple of times for removing fallen branches the size of medium trees, an extremely large tree removal of a sick and diseased tree, and tree pruning. My yard is very wild and natural.The owner of the company met with me to assess what I needed to do with my overgrown trees.while keeping the native Austin rustic feel. He gave me a fair price for the work I decided needed to be done. The workers were professional, polite, thorough, and cleaned up after the work was completed. Happy Tree Servie also carries insurance, and that is very important to me. Ruth Burke171 days agoThe Only Arborist Who Thought Outside the Box—and It Made All the Difference! I had a very large cottonwood tree (approximately 44 inches in diameter) that was located on my neighbor’s property but fell into mine, making it my responsibility to handle. The tree looked completely healthy from the outside—beautiful bark, leaves, and flowers—but once it fell, it was clear the interior was hollow and diseased. To make matters more complicated, the tree fell across a creek between our properties, creating a very challenging situation. I had six different tree companies come out and provide bids, ranging from $2,000 to $13,500. What truly set Happy Trees apart—and Evan, the owner and certified arborist—is that he was the only one who took the time to think outside the box. Instead of simply quoting a high price to remove everything, he suggested a much more practical and cost-effective solution: leaving the portion of the tree across the creek in place, since removing it would be extremely difficult and expensive due to the steep banks. I checked with Austin Watershed, and they confirmed this was perfectly acceptable. That level of thoughtfulness and integrity really stood out—he wasn’t just trying to make money, he was also trying to save me money. As an added bonus, the tree now provides a natural crossing over the creek, which has actually been fun and useful for both children and adults. In addition, since this is a rental property, I especially appreciated that Evan personally called me to point out additional damage to other trees on the property that I may want to address. None of the other five companies did that. They simply sent a price—often with little or no explanation of what they were even proposing to do. Evan’s communication, professionalism, and attention to detail made a significant difference. The work that was completed on my property was excellent. The crew was professional, thorough, and respectful of the landscape. They properly sealed the cuts on my oak trees, and everything looks absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, honest, communicative, and truly acting in your best interest, I highly recommend Happy Tree Service of Austin.+0Posted on Google

Some of them had weird growth patterns and we just wanted to set the trees up for as long a life as possible. Evan helped explain what they needed, quoted quickly, and got the work done much faster than expected! Instead of just taking the job and getting paid, they took the time to explain that additional pruning would actually harm the trees over time by limiting sunlight. That level of honesty and professionalism is hard to find. They educated me on what was best for the health of my trees and my property, even though it meant not making a sale. After consulting with several tree companies, we found that happy tree hit the sweet spot between expertise and affordable pricing. They have been taking excellent care of our live oaks ever since, most recently helping us preserve and restore the health of a very large, old and beautiful tree that had incurred a fungal infection. The owner, Evan, is very passionate and invested in his work; he is hands on and available to his customers. Overall, we found Happy Tree a good company to go with. The only bump that we ran into was mis-communication issues on what work needed to be performed - at the end everything worked out. We appreciate Evan's tree expertise and explanations on why they were recommending various work to be done on the trees. Jimothy DYSON246 days agoTruly excellent service from the beginning with Evan's appraisal of the health of the whole trees health as opposed to the huge limb that was dead and had split from the main body of one of my Hackberry trees and agree that no need to take down even a living junk tree so only removal of 15 foot branch was recommended. Quickly and timely an appointment date was given. On The crew arrived as planned and made very quick work of cutting branch that was located in a difficult spot and removed it to their bin in minutes and left surrounding area very tidy and gates locked to secure back yard in less time almost than I could walk back to the front of the house! Lee Sarver work334 days agoAfter meeting with three other tree companies I decided on Happy Trees because they were punctual, professional, explained clearly where I knew what to expect. They removed a tree where the roots were messing up our fence (yes we had coordinated w/neighbors-ce ter tree in pics). Out of the other tree companies, I felt most comfortable with Happy Trees and they had a fair competitive cost for their services. They did an excellent job and cleaned up well when the last company that did our tree removal a few years ago left so much debris it basically ruined our backyard. Happy Trees respected our space. Evan came out and did an assessment and provided a recommendation. No upsell, professional and knowledgeable. I decided to use them to do my annual tree trimming of both oak trees. They responded to my online request within 24 hours to schedule an estimate, and were patient and flexible with my challenging schedule. Great communication makes me feel they are taking my tree care needs seriously. Evan actually got to my place earlier than the scheduled time. They came as scheduled to cut down the trees that could not be saved and helped me set up a watering schedule to give the trees they treated the best possible chance, so far all those have survived. Bill Oakey849 days agoI can’t say enough good things about Happy Tree Service. Their certified arborist, Lewis Heye, looked at all of our trees - front, sides and back. He discovered a major crack in a large tree that could fall and damage cars in the parking lot next door. Happy Tree Service expedited our project. Their work was top notch all the way. After agreeing to the price and setting a date, the tree cutting crew came exactly on time. The crew was in and out very quickly and did an excellent job exactly as agreed to. Justin970 days agoEvan, owner, knows his stuff. I met with a number of landscaping companies and arborists but Evan was the only person that showed an interest in educating me on my trees and creating a plan. We had some scheduling issues at first but that can happen with any company. Most importantly though, the work was great and Evan was very professional. There are a lot of arborist companies in Austin to choose from and I met with a few of them. Happy Tree seems like one of the best to me.I will continue to work with Happy Tree because they take the time to educate you, do good work, respect your property and give you options.Posted on Google

EM987 days agoWe worked with Justinian to assess the health of our live oaks and do some routine trimming. He was friendly, professional, and thorough. He walked us through the property to point out possible future considerations (without pushing unnecessary upsells), helped us identify some mystery plants, and recommended a very reasonable plan of action. He took detailed notes that translated to the service team. The service team was friendly, prompt, and executed well -- they communicated clearly, addressed everything we needed, and left the property spotless. I got a call a couple of weeks after for an appointment to complete the work. Staff arrived on time and were very quick and professional.
